Overview
Bantam AI ("we," "our," or "us") provides an iMessage extension that lets you generate AI-powered text and image responses. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
- Prompts and inputs: The text you type to generate a response is sent to third-party AI model providers (see Third-Party Services below). Prompts may also be retained temporarily on our servers, associated only with a randomly-generated anonymous identifier stored in your device's keychain, solely for content moderation purposes — specifically to identify and block users who repeatedly generate policy-violating content.
- Usage data: We track the number of requests you make each day to enforce the daily free limit. This is stored by randomly-generated anonymous identifier in our database.
- Subscription status: If you subscribe, we store whether your subscription is active to grant unlimited access.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or Apple ID.
- Stored prompts are not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID — only to a randomly-generated anonymous identifier stored in your device's keychain.
- We do not store the content of your iMessages or your generated responses beyond what is described above.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or sell your data.
Third-Party Services
Your prompts are transmitted to one of the following AI providers depending on the model you select:
- OpenAI (GPT models, content moderation) — openai.com/privacy
- Anthropic (Claude models) — anthropic.com/privacy
- Google (Gemini models) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Perplexity AI — perplexity.ai/privacy
- xAI (Grok models) — x.ai/legal/privacy-policy
Our backend infrastructure runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS processes request routing and stores usage and subscription data. See aws.amazon.com/privacy.
In-app subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
How We Use Your Information
- To route your prompt to the AI model you selected and return a response
- To moderate content and block users who repeatedly violate our policies
- To count daily requests and enforce rate limits
- To verify subscription status and unlock unlimited access
Data Retention
Prompts retained for moderation purposes are stored for a limited period and then deleted. Daily request counts reset every 24 hours. Subscription status is retained while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period after cancellation for customer support purposes.
Children's Privacy
Bantam AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us at bantam.ai.app@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps to remove any associated data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted at bantamapp.com/privacy with a new effective date.
